We’re pleased to announce, along with our new website, the details for the 2011 Fall In-House on October 15th at 9:30 in Azrieli!
Our topics are Cyberterrorism and Disease Control Following Natural Disasters.
You can get the topic guides here.
It’s not to late to sign up! For a $10 fee, you get to attend both the Fall and Winter In-Houses and are eligible to apply to travel with the MUN team!
There will be an optional training session on October 12th at 7pm in St. Pat’s 100 for those who want a short primer for what they’ll be getting in to at our in-house! This session will also feature a “Home Government” which delegates can write to with policy or procedural questions for help.
If you have any questions, feel free to go to the Contact Us page or head over to our Facebook group and ask our execs!

Chris – Do you really mean 2010 Fall In-House? Is this an old post or do you mean 2011? Just wondering. Nice site!
2011
Thanks for the notice
Hi,
I was just wondering what exactly in-house conferences are?
Hi!
So the in-house conferences are large training events put on by us at the UN Society. Whereas we go to Kingston, Montreal, or Boston usually for our conventions, these are one-day events for Carleton students to compete against eachother and for us to fine-tune our strategies and help make sure everyone can improve as a delegate. We have one in the fall term (two weeks ago) and one in the winter (sometime in January). Attendance at one of them is necessary to go to a conference with the UN Society. If you’re interested in getting involved, join our Facebook group and you’ll be notified when we start organizing the winter in-house.

Sounds interesting, however, i have never done anything like this before. I would prefer to watch people who are more experienced in action, before I actually participate in one of these conferences and make a giant fool out of myself. Is that okay?
It’s certainly ok to come and watch the Winter In-House, but participation is required to go to McMUN and Harvard this year
If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask any of our execs on the Facebook group. We’ve had a lot of people come out on the spur of the moment to try MUN at our low-pressure in-houses (one of our members who did her first Model UN at our Winter In-House last year just won a Best Delegate award at Queen’s Model UN), and would be pleased to hep you out if you came to participate. We also have training sessions so you aren’t going in blind.
If you have any other questions, feel free to raise them at the Carleton United Nations Society FB group or by emailing me directly at christomalty gmail com
